I get asked all the time - "How can I launch a business when I have to work to pay my bills?".  The answer is simple.  If your expectations are realistic, and if you love what you do, it's a certaintly that everything will fall into place.  Of course, you may have to start by taking baby steps at first, starting your new GIG adventure part-time.  But I say why half step?  If there is something that you know that you LOVE to do - do it with all you've got.  It's what dreams are made of.  

The business concepts shared here are varied.  Some are service-oriented, while in others, you'd be creating a product.  Still others might be sales or retail oriented, hobby related, or family centered.  

In choosing to start your own GIG - there are several criteria, any number of which might apply in your case:

• The business you choose is 100% pure fun.  
• The business may be a thinly-disguised version of your previous job, but in an entrepreneurial incarnation.
• The business is an extention of a favorite hobby, and your financial future will not ride on the revenue it generates.
• The business is a dream come true, something you've always wanted to do.  

Regardless of your responses to these points, what matters most is that you LOVE what you do.  Because once you love what you're doing, then even the routeine tasks necessary to run any business won't seem so much like work.  Guaranteed.  

BUSINESS PLAN WRITING

Researching and writing business plans for new and experienced entrepreneurs.  

Many people want to start their own business, and they know they need a business plan, but most won't have a clue about what makes one business plan more successful than another.  They'll need to turn to an expert for advice, and they're willing to pay good money for a plan that will help them secure startup capital.  

Obviously the ability to write a persuasive business plan is key, along with a talent for quickly learning the quirks of an industry in order to incorporate relevant facts into a plan.

Parents are working longer hours and are unable to transport their children to frequently packed after-school schedules.  A taxi service for kids will be in demand in upper middle-class suburbs where both parents tend to work.

This is a 'gig' that can easily be run on a part-time basis because most of your "deliveries" will be after school and possibly on weekends, though a few exceptions can occur when doctors appointments are scheduled during school hours.  

Investment requires a large van, good driving record, and a reliable GPS unit.  

It's a service that LisaCampbell would have loved to use when her daughter was in grade-school.  Thousands of parents will pay well for trustworthy, reliable drivers.  If you've driven a school bus in the past and liked it or if you're just into kids or driving, running your own limo service for kids will be a piece of cake.  

COMPUTER CONSULTING

A business that helps individuals and other businesses use their computer systems more efficiently.  Services may include support and training, upgrading, troubleshooting.  

As computers undoubtedly become more entrenched in the everyday lives of most Americans, the need for skilled consultants abailable for a variety of concerns will continue to increase.  

Computers are here to stay.  Ironically as people find them simpler to use, the mechanics behind most computer operations, hardware and software, have become more complex and difficult for average users to understand, let alone to repair and customize.  

Depending on your background and desire, if you decide to GIG as a computer consultant, you can opt to specialize in a particular niche industry (catering to lawyers or physicians, for instance), or focus on kids or the elderly, helping them to optimize computer usage for their needs.  

If you know your stuff, it's likely that you'll be able to write your own ticket as a computer consultant for years to come.  And you won't have to punch a clock.  ;)
